William J. Carlin
President
Bill, a highly experienced human resource executive with Primerica (formerly American Can Company), held key executive positions in all major aspects of Human Resources for this leading Fortune 500 company. Areas of impact included Organizational Planning, Management Development, Executive Compensation, Labor Relations as well as integration of Human Resources Strategic Planning with Business Plans.
Bill, as Vice President of Human Resources, had responsibility for introducing the first total flexible benefit plan into a major corporation. His organization became the pioneers of what has become one of the most innovative and widely accepted new concepts in Human Resources within the past ten years.
He served as Corporate Vice President, Human Resources during the years of Primerica's restructuring from a leading manufacturing "smokestack" industry to a major retailing and financial services company and was very involved in the many human resource issues resulting from the company's successful divestment and acquisition strategy. It was during this period that his advice and counsel to the top executives, including the Chairman, became so highly valued and utilized assisting with the career decision and options that led to so many successful transitions, both within and outside the company. He has continued this important role as a key member of Mullin & Associates/Lincolnshire International, specializing in assisting senior-level executives with their career transitions for the past eight years.
Bill has developed a reputation for being uniquely creative in assisting our executives in transferring their skills successfully into entirely new careers without sacrificing title, compensation, etc. In addition, based on Bill's 35 years in corporate life, he is convinced that a large number of all terminations have little to do with actual job performance but are a result of executives not recognizing the importance of managing upwards effectively as well as managing on a peer and subordinate level. It's teaching executives to become aware of these critical interpersonal techniques in their next career move that Bill is exceptional at. As a result of Bill's need to help executives not repeat past behavior patterns that may have cost them in their last position, he implemented a career pathing system for Mullin & Associates/Lincolnshire International. This is a commitment that our consultants make to each and every executive to follow up three months, nine months and fifteen months after they are placed in a new career. Sixty five to seventy percent of our executives return to seek advice and counsel at these various points once their new careers have begun.
Since Mullin & Associates/Lincolnshire International has been established, we have never had an executive take a legal action against their client company. Much of this is because of Bill's special skills in diffusing any potential litigation we have ever had. Our client companies recognize Bill's success rate at assisting them in those highly volatile, sensitive senior-level situations.
